Today, for Female Football Week, we’re celebrating Daisy Parsell from our Women’s Social League 1 side — a familiar face around the club and someone who continues to make her mark in front of goal.

A former player in our Women's State League side and former Captain of Southern Women's Championship Taroona FC winning side - Daisy has remained a passionate and valued part of the club while balancing football with raising her two children. Whether it’s finding the back of the net, high pressing to assist with defending and winning the ball back or encouraging those around her, Daisy brings energy and experience to her team.

Daisy’s love of football began at a young age.
“When I was little, I used to watch my big brother play and would kick the ball around with my dad at his games. I was 7 or 8 when my best friend asked me to play on a girls school team. At the time, I didn’t even know girls had teams!”
That passion quickly grew through time spent with family, friends and, of course, scoring goals.
“My inspiration to play grew from loving the feeling of scoring a goal (or two), learning and practicing skills with my brother, as well as being with my friends outside of school.”
For Daisy, football has become much more than a game.
“I can’t imagine life without the game. I’ve met some amazing people over the years and have gained life-long friends at Taroona - it’s my second home.”
“Like sport is for many people, it’s also something I do to support my mental health both through exercise and socially with team mates. I also continue to play to be something else my children see me as outside of being their mum.
Who I was before them and who I can continue to be. Hopefully inspiring their own life-long passions in whatever they choose.”
Thank you Daisy for everything you continue to bring to the club — and for inspiring the next generation both on and off the field.
