Junior Coordinator: Miriam O'Neill (She/Her) email: juniorcoordinator@taroonafc.org What is your current role on the board? I'm the Junior Coordinator (Kindergarten to Grade 6) and am also on the Club Committee. How long have you been involved with Taroona FC? 5 years What is your professional background outside of the sports organisation? Risk, compliance and governance What inspired you to join Taroona FC Committee? To contribute with a group of awesome, passionate volunteers to building a strong, sustainable club across juniors, youth and seniors. Do you have a personal history with football (e.g., player, coach, fan)? Both of my kids have been playing football since they were in prep and I’ve always been involved as a team manager and a taxi service. Both are now playing in the youth program at Taroona FC, with my daughter coaching and also making her seniors debut for both WSL and Champs this season. Why are you excited to be volunteering at Taroona FC this year? Taroona FC is a community club run almost entirely by passionate volunteers, with a very strong link to its local community. It's been fantastic contributing to the growth of the junior program and meeting lots of great people, and providing an environment where players and their families can participate in a supportive fun, environment. I really enjoyed volunteering at Taroona FC. What do you value most about this club? It's connection to its community and the passion of the people involved with the club to do the best they can to make the club a great place to play. How do you see your role contributing to the long-term success of the organisation? It's been great to be involved in growing the junior program over the last 5 years. These young players are the future youth and senior players of our club. I love volunteering and am passionate about providing the best environment possible for players and their families to learn and play our game. What changes or improvements would you like to see in the club? I'd love to see more people from our community volunteering to take on some of the roles that are vacant and therefore being juggled by the existing volunteers. And with a growing junior and youth program it will be good to maintain a high level of quality in the skills program and team results. What specific skills or expertise do you bring to the board? I bring passion and commitment, as well as skills in governance, continuous improvement and business management. What do you enjoy doing outside of your board responsibilities? I love spending time with my family and friends, and I spend a lot of time driving my kids to or from their soccer training and games.
