Launceston Cup 2024

Last weekend our U16 Girls team competed in the 2024 Launceston Cup.

Led by coach Molly Riley, the team took on Clarence, KLFC and Ulverstone, emerging with an impressive 3 wins, a clean sheet, and earning them a place in the final against Glenorchy Knights. Our girls put everything they had into the final against a strong Knights team, with a very dynamic game providing opportunities for both teams.

After 59 minutes of entertaining football with the score at 0-0 it was looking like overtime and the possibility of penalties, but our Pirates pulled through with a goal in the dying seconds of the game.

A big thank you to Anika and Elsa from Burnie FC for joining the team once again, to Derek and Dave for co-coaching alongside Molly at the Cup, and of course the season coaches Maddy, Holly Lace, Daisy and Zyla. Congratulations to a wonderful group of players whose determination and never-say-die attitude earned them this memorable win!

Our Under 15 Mixed team recently competed in the Launceston Cup as well.

Under Riley's coaching eye they took on Launceston City Lions, Devonport, Launceston Juventus and then South Hobart Blue.

Thank you to Will, Ed and Kayden from Clarence Zebras and Harlen from Hobart City for joining us. It was great to watch the borrowed players fit so well into our team!

We came 5th in the ladder missing out on fourth place by just 1 goal. We also had a very lovely team dinner in Saturday night, celebrating the year with parents and siblings.

Thanks to Riley for coaching and Jodie for managing.
