We had a great Saturday at Kelvedon over the weekend, with a great spectator and participant turnout to our Tassal Sponsor Day. A huge thanks to Holly-Lace Ayton for organising the fun, games, and music, and a huge thanks to Sean Riley from Tassal for coming along to represent one of the Club’s major sponsors.

The day started out on a high, with our Men’s Championship 1 team absolutely demolishing their Olympia Warriors opponents. Henry Ralph scored 7 goals alone, Toby Dove contributed a hat trick, David Abbott and Jonas Rutherford bagging a brace each, and Matt Chapman, Alex Clarke, and Liam Ransome all snagging a goal to add up a whopping 17-0. The Men’s Championship team followed suit, with another dominating win over their Olympia counterparts (7-0).

Unfortunately our WSL Pirates were not able to celebrate their game with the club song afterwards, copping a hard loss to the Northern travellers (2-8). After conceding two early goals, our Pirates held fast through the majority of the first half and a promising goal from Caity Riley boosted the mood for a short while. Daisy Parsell’s goal early in the second half also provided a burst of optimism, however Jazmin White from the Devonport Strikers proved to be too speedy and deadly this time around.

Alexander Edward’s first half penalty wasn’t enough to win the Men’s Championship 3 match against Kingborough on Sunday, with the Lions taking back the game 1-3. Our Women’s Championship 1 team were also unlucky in their match against South Hobart, conceding a couple in the first half but fighting strong to keep the remainder of the game goalless (0-2).

Our senior teams now all have a break this weekend as the Lakoseljac Cup and Women’s Statewide Cup Finals are both being played on Monday. We hope all our players, supporters and volunteers enjoy their weekend off, and look forward to being back in action again soon. In the meantime, be sure to head to Kelvedon next Wednesday night to catch our U18’s in their home game against South Hobart Blue.
