A huge congratulations to our Men’s Championship and Championship 1 teams, who were both able to trump their Metro FC oppositions on Saturday afternoon. The Men’s Champ 1 game was won 4-2 (goals by T. Dove, 2, D. Abbott, 1, J. Rutherford, 1), and the Champ lads also put on a decisive display, dominating the whole game and winning 6-1 (F. Bridge, 2, N. Gardener, 1, O. Maxwell, 1, F. Natoli, 1, L. Warrener, 1). These were crucial wins, projecting our Championship lads into second place on the ladder thanks to a narrow goal difference, and keeping our Champ 1 guys in the top 4.

Our U18 team were also in fine form on Wednesday night, playing a fantastic first half against Glenorchy Knights at KGV. Goals from Cooper Bain and K. Fieldhouse put our young Pirates ahead of the opposition at half time, but unfortunately couldn’t secure the win, with the Knights taking the game 2-3.

While our socials Men’s and Women’s teams had their games postponed due to ground closures, our Women’s Championship and WSL teams were out at D’Arcy Street on Sunday morning, battling it out against their unrelenting South Hobart oppositions. There were glimpses of hope in the WSL game, and after a well-fought first half (0-2) it seemed as though our Pirates might have been able to equalise in the second period. Unfortunately, South Hobart proved too strong, dominating the remainder of the game and winning 0-8.

We have a couple of home games this coming week, with our U18 boys taking on the Clarence Zebras on Wednesday evening, and our Women’s Super League Pirates also hosting the Clarence Zebras this Saturday. The kiosk will be open for Saturday’s game, so rug up and come along to support our Pirates at home. Best of luck to all our teams this weekend!
