Both our Men’s Championship and Championship 1 teams enjoyed a successful Saturday at KGV when they took on the Glenorchy Knights. Our Champ 1 lads started off the victorious day with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals by David Abbott and Fergus Aitken. Our Men’s Champ team then won their battle 3-0, with an own goal giving them the initial lead over their opposition. Maxwell and James then put a goal away each to seal the deal.

Our Women’s Championship team tried their best against Glenorchy Knights at KGV on Sunday but couldn’t repeat the previous day’s results, losing their game 0-4. Meanwhile, our social Men’s and Women’s teams were unable to play due to washed out grounds.

Our U18s also had a successful week, defeating Clarence Zebras at home on Wednesday night at Kelvie. Resuming play in the second half our young Pirates were trailing the game 0-1, however their ‘never-say-die’ attitude kicked in and they managed to steal the game (3-2) thanks to goals by A. Taylor, J. McComb, and J. King.

Our WSL Pirates also hosted the Clarence Zebras at home on Saturday. The first half was well-fought, although the Clebras slotted away two early goals before converting a penalty. Our Pirates made a few scoring opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net. Ultimately the game finished 0-8, with half the game’s goals conceded in the final 10 minutes of the game. Our WSL squad now has a busy game schedule ahead, travelling to Floorworld Park to take on Launceston United this Saturday, with a Tuesday night game against Olympia to follow up.

Best of luck to all our teams in their upcoming games!
