Last week’s game schedule kicked off under the Friday night lights, when our WSL Pirates took on the Olympia Warriors at Warrane, and our Championship 3 lads took on University Dynamo in a catch up round at Kelvedon Park. The home game was a feisty one, with 3 of our our social men’s players picking up yellow cards, and numerous penalties being awarded to the opposition. University Dynamo ended up taking the game 0-9. Our Social Men’s team now takes on University Dynamo again this Sunday, and will be hoping for a better result
Over at Empire Couriers Park, our WSL team was off to a great and early start with Ineeka Link pouncing onto a fumbled back-pass to put the Pirates ahead in the opening minute. They were able to start the second half confidently, with Daisy Parsell having contributed a brace to put them ahead 3-1, but unfortunately couldn’t keep the lead and had to settle for a 3-3 tie. Sunday saw our Women’s Championship team facing Glenorchy Knights at KGV, and while they also fought hard, particularly in the first half, they were overwhelmed by the shrinking force of the Knights (0-11). Both our Senior Women’s teams now play their final gam of the season at Kelvedon this Saturday, so make sure to get along to the Clubhouse to cheer them all on!
Our Senior Men’s teams hosted Metro FC at Kelvedon on Saturday, and completely dominated the opposition in both games. In the Champ 1 game, Henry Ralph contributed a hat trick, Matt Chapman a brace, and Ky Fieldhouse, Jack Hudspeth, Joshua King, and Aidan Taylor all added their names onto the scoresheet to tally up the 10-1 victory. In the Men’s Championship game, Fergus Bridge and Oliver Maxwell each nabbed a brace, while Jake Stuart and Aidan Taylor also scored, helping the team to a comfortable 6-1 win.
