Our Ressie’s kicked off the weekend with an absolute thumper on Saturday morning. The South Hobart away side scored first and early in the game, giving our Pirates a little wake up call. Ewan Larby responded only minutes later with a goal of his own, scoring twice more in the second half to round out his hat-trick. Aidan Taylor, Tom Roberts, and Ted Moffitt all scored goals of their own in the first half, contributing to the 6-1 victory. Our Men’s Championship Reserves team are now sitting pretty at the top of the table with 9 points from 3 games under their belts.

In the Kappa Men’s Southern Championship game, our senior men’s team started the game strong with Toby Fleming scoring in the 22nd minute, and our lads being awarded a penalty shortly after. Unfortunately, it was saved by the South Hobart keeper which may have boosted the opposition's confidence and knocked the wind out of our Pirates’ sails. They found themselves down 3-1 halfway through the second half, and not even a late goal by Rami Vilar could save us from the eventual 2-4 loss. Our MyState Bank Women’s Super League Pirates didn’t fare any better, with many from the usual line-up unavailable due to various injuries. Our WSL team had a couple of great scoring opportunities but were unable to convert them, and the unrelenting South Hobart visitors won the game 0-9.

Sunday’s game day schedule saw both our Men’s and Women’s social teams at Kelvedon. First up, our Men’s Social team took on our Kingborough counterparts, and it seemed like our Pirates may have started the game with shaky legs, finding themselves down 0-3 early on. Thankfully, our friendly neighbourhood superhero, Kaspar Deane, came through with a hat-trick to bring the score to 3-3. In the Women’s Social game our Pirates started with 10 and ended with 8. It was a tough game played in great spirit with new players fitting in well. We look forward to watching our Pirates take to the field at full strength in the coming weeks.

Best of luck to our Men’s Championship team, who are taking on Clarence Zebras FC over the Easter weekend. Get along to Wentworth Park to cheer them on!
