Last Saturday our Senior Women’s squad travelled up to Launceston for the second week in a row to take on Launceston United, this time in the Women’s Statewide Cup. Our Pirates conceded 2 goals in the first half but spent the majority of the game matching their opponents. Skipper, Daisy Parsell, came close to scoring on a number of occasions, however the game ended 0-2. The game marked the return of a number of previously injured players, and with the recent addition of American import, Jaylynn Barton, our Pirates are looking much stronger going into the remainder of the season. They take on Kingborough Lions United FC tonight at Kelvedon Park in the first time the two teams meet this season, with our Pirates having the home ground advantage on their side.

The U17 Girls Team played in the Statewide Cup Quarter Finals against South Hobart FC on Sunday. They played an exceptional game with many attacking opportunities, but unfortunately didn't score either. Coach Maddy Lane says, “I was so impressed with their ability to retain possession and play out under pressure. They all showed determination and perseverance till the end and should be very proud of themselves. I can't wait to see them play throughout the rest of the season.” The visitors ended up taking the game 0-2. Check out the full photo gallery below, with many thanks to Chris Goodey for supplying the pictures.

Our Men’s Social Team played Kingborough Lions United FC on Sunday at Sherburd Park. Unfortunately, not even a late goal by Marcus Atkinson could prevent a 1-4 loss to the Lions. They will be hoping to have a better result when they take on South Hobart FC this Sunday at Wellesley Park, where star striker Kaspar Deane can hopefully add to his goal tally. Kaspar is currently one of the League’s leading goal scorers, with 9 goals to his name after just 5 games. Our Women’s Social team will be out at KGV on Sunday, going into a tough battle against the (currently) unbeaten Glenorchy Knights.

This Saturday sees our Men’s Championship and Championship Reserves teams back at Kelvie, hosting South East United FC. Both teams are easing into good form, with our Reserves team still sitting pretty on top of their League ladder. We can expect a few goals from them tomorrow, so make sure to head on down to Kelvedon to cheer our Pirates on.

Best of luck to all our teams this weekend! Don’t forget that the Kelvedon Kiosk will be open on Friday and Saturday, with plenty of hot and cold food and drink available for our supporters and visitors.
