Last weekend saw our senior Men’s teams out at Warrior Park where they took on the Olympia FC Warriors. The Championship Reserves team conceded early in the first half but they dug deep to bring the game back to a tied scoreline, thanks to a goal by player/coach extraordinaire Matt Chapman. Our Championship Pirates nabbed a crucial win shortly afterwards, easing them into a second place ladder spot after this week’s rounds. After finding themselves 0-1 down after half time, Noah Gardner’s consistent and looming threats eventually became fruitful as he converted a counter attack to equalise the score. Fergus Bridge and Rami Vilar also added to the scoresheet, with our Championship Pirates taking the game 3-2.

Our Women’s games on Sunday resulted in unfortunate losses. Our Social team met with the New Town White Eagles SC team at Clare Street, losing 0-7 in a tough match, while our WSL Pirates travelled to Wentworth Park to take on the Clarence Zebras for the second time this season. Our WSL team put up a great fight in the first half, with the defensive outfit denying the home side many chances at goal, and Mei Booker, Mia Fujia, and Daisy Parsell looking fearsome at the other end. Our Pirates returned to the field after the halftime break hoping to capitalise on their chances and convert the 0-0 score to a win in their favour, but they were unable to prevent an onslaught of goals in the second half resulting in the 0-4 loss. Thank you to Zyla Williams and Sumali Buamee for documenting the game in the photo album below.

We now look to Sunday’s Social League Cup games, both being played at Kelvedon Park. And we also look forward to watching our Men’s Championship and Champ Reserves teams play in their League matches on Wednesday at KGV. We hope to see many supporters in the crowd, and don’t forget you can nab some winter-appropriate Taroona FC merchandise in the Kelvedon Kiosk.
