With a break in most League games due to the Statewide Cup fixtures, we had our Social Men’s and Women’s team still competing on Sunday, while our Senior Men’s teams took on University FC in a mid-week clash at KGV.

Kelvedon Park was a buzz on Sunday afternoon with our Women’s Social team kicking off the senior games when they hosted New Town White Eagles SC. The first half looked like it was going to be a very close contest, with Sophie Nash scoring a brace in the first half, allowing our Pirates to start the second half only 2-3 down. Unfortunately they couldn’t get any more goals on the scoresheet, and lost the game 2-7. Our Men’s Social team hosted Nelson Eastern Suburbs FC afterwards, and were able to nab a 2-1 win.

On Wednesday evening, our Men’s Championship and Championship Reserves Pirates headed out to KGV to take on the Uni bees in their respective League Cup games. Our Championship ressies kicked off first and were off to a great start, with Aidan Taylor and Adrian Bett scoring early to give our Pirates the lead. However, late in the first half the opposition scored two goals to level the score. Our Pirates came back out in the second half with all pistols blazing, with four yellow cards being awarded in the latter half of the game (only half given to our lads) we can deduce it was a fiery affair. Unfortunately we conceded an own goal in the 75th minute and were unable to get it back, so lost the game 2-3.

Our Men’s Championship Pirates found a better outcome after a shaky beginning. Finding themselves 0-2 down in the first 20 minutes, they made the most of their change room chat and returned to the field with a fire in their bellies. Toby Fleming and Rami Vilar each scored a brace, with Noah Gardner adding to the mix to steal the game back, 5-2. It was an epic comeback which displayed how dominant our Pirates can be when they work together like a well oiled machine. They now have a bye this weekend and will be looking forward to taking on Metro FC in a week’s time, where they will hopefully return to their winning ways.

This Sunday sees our WSL team over at D’Arcy Street for the Community Female Football Week round. Entry to the grounds will be FREE but South Hobart FC will be taking any donations for Shredding for CFT proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania. Abundance on the Quay will be at the ground supplying delicious food options, and more importantly, coffee! The Face Painting Lady will also be at the ground from 1pm - 3pm. It looks to be a fantastic day out, so get along to support our WSL Pirates and help raise funds for a great cause!

Best of luck to all our Pirates this weekend!
