With our Women’s League games back on this weekend, we have plenty of football action to keep you entertained this weekend! It all starts tonight with our WSL Pirates taking on Kingborough Lions United FC at the newly re-vamped Clennett’s Lightwood Park. The game marks a special occasion - the first game to be played under the new lights with a special guest, CommBank Matildas star Emily Gielnik, attending an event at Kingborough’s Den beforehand.
Last weekend saw our Men’s senior teams take on South East United FC in their last group games of the League Cup at Pembroke Park with mixed results. Our Reserves team lost 4-6 after an incredibly tight first half, with Jack Hudspeth, Joel Terhell, Toby Dove and Matt Chapman all contributing to the score sheet. Our Men’s Championship team won convincingly with a 5-1 victory after a goal-less start to the game. Toby Fleming scored his first of two goals in the 62nd minute, opening a floodgate, with Noah Gardner, Ewan Larby, and Ramiro Vilar all pitching in for the resounding victory. Unfortunately they did not make it out into the final stages of the Cup games.
You can watch our Senior Men’s teams on Saturday at home, when they take on Hobart United FC. Let’s get on out and support our Pirates this weekend! Best of luck to all our teams playing.
