Match Centre

Saturday saw our senior Men’s teams take on South East United FC at Pembroke Park. In a narrow race to the finish line, our Men’s Championship Reserves are just a point behind the ladder leaders, New Town Eagles SC, and went into this weekend’s game with a resolute mindset. They responded to a home goal in the first half with 3 of their own, thanks to Tom Roberts’ equaliser and Aidan Taylor’s brace. Aidan Taylor went on to score another deal-sealer in the 84th minute, earning him a Pizzarazzi Player of the Match award for a perfect hat trick (right foot, left foot, and a header).

It was a difficult day at Pembroke Park for our Champ team, however, with our Pirates conceding early which saw them chasing the game from the third minute. A hat trick by POTM, Toby Fleming, wasn’t enough to stop the 3-5 loss in a bloodbath of a match. Three yellow cards and two reds were dealt in total, with our super striker Rami Vilar being granted one of those reds right before half-time. Our senior men’s teams now look to this weekend’s challenge as they take on Olympia at Kelvedon Park.

Sunday saw our Women’s Super League Pirates back on the road and travelling North to take on Launceston United SC. With last week’s dramatic win under their belt, they were feeling positive even though they had no substitutions. Our Pirates put up a tough fight and while the game was a close contest, we were unable to steam points from the home side. Jessie Williams scored a fantastic brace, contributing to the 2-3 final score. Our WSL Pirates will be playing Kingborough Lions United FC at Kelvedon on Tuesday night instead of over the weekend. Our Social teams also see a break in their league as the Social League Cup finals are being played.

Let’s make sure we get out and support our Pirates at Kelvie this week!
