Saturday saw our WSL squad take on Clarence Zebras FC in their last game of the 2023 Season. It was a tense game with plenty of action, but ultimately it was a culmination of the unrelenting determination that’s been building within the WSL squad all year. Jessie Williams was able to score in spectacular fashion as usual, approaching the opposition’s box with her trademark coolness and skill and slotting the ball into the near post. While neither team scored again in the game there was plenty of action on both ends of the field, and our Pirates were able to maintain the lead and (finally) a clean sheet. Sunday saw our Men’s Social team downed by DOSA 0-5.

Our WSL squad now looks forward to a friendly game against an undefeated Burnie United Women’s Northern Championship team next month, so keep an eye out for those details as it will be an exciting match to watch. At home this weekend, we have our Men’s Championship Reserves Pirates playing in their League Semi Final against the third-placed University. Our Pirates emerged victorious last time they took on University with the game ending 4-2, which was only a few weeks ago at Kelevdon. We are hoping to have a similar result, if not better, so we can hopefully cheer on our guys in the Grand Final on Wednesday! Best of luck team!
