We’re back for the 2024 season! Kicking off tonight we have our Southern Youth Premier League U18 Girls taking on Glenorchy Knights. We’ve seen some incredible talent coming up through the ranks of late, with a number of our U18s training and playing with our WSL squad during the pre-season Summer Cup tournament. Our U18s and U15s combined for a friendly match last weekend, with both teams showing promising technicality. Photo album below with thanks to Chris Goodey. We are looking forward to seeing what our U18 Pirates can do in this brand new league!

Our WSL Pirates will be making the big trek up to Devonport on Saturday to take on the Summer Cup runners up. Traditionally a physically challenging side, we are looking forward to seeing how our pirates match up against the Strikers with the return of some Taroona FC legends to the squad. We’re also seeing promising things from our newly revived Women’s Championship team, headed by coach Tayla Thomas. They played a practice match against South Hobart FC on Tuesday night and looked comfortable in their 3-1 victory!Holly-Lace Ayton brought the firepower, scoring a brace, with our reliable youngster Cholada Gale adding the other goal to the tally.

All eyes will be on our Senior Men’s teams this weekend, as they’ve started their 2024 campaign in excellent style! Already scoring some Pirate loot in the Summer Cup Final, our lads backed up their trophy win with a Laka Cup Round 1 win against Barnstoneworth United FC on Monday. After a goalless first half, Ollie Maxwell expertly put away a penalty in the 50th minute, scoring his second later in the game. The skilful Toby Fleming also got his name on the score sheet, after playing a fantastic game as usual. We now look forward to cheering our Pirates on at KGV this Saturday, as they take on the Clarence Zebras.

Best of luck to all our teams this weekend!
