Our Men’s Championship 1 Pirates clocked a solid win over the Clarence Zebras at Wentworth park on Saturday, dominating the game the whole way through. Cameron Bailey opened the scoring 17 minutes in, and Joel Terhell, Harry Bruford, Samuel Dresden, and Jett Mccomb also added their names to the score sheet in the 5-0 victory. Our Men’s Championship team then followed suit, mirroring the score, with Fabian Natoli, Tom Roberts, Toby Fleming (2) and Ewan Sloan contributing their goals. Our WSL Pirates travelled up to Launceston for a late game, and in a cruel twist of fate lost their game, also 0-5. After an incredible first half which saw our Prates keep possession and create the majority of scoring opportunities, the opposition came out in the second half with newfound vigour and dominated the second half.
On Sunday our Women’s Social L1 team played on an incredibly slippery and muddy Clare St field, but they got the job done with a solid win. And our Women’s Championship team were also victorious, notching their first win of the season against the New Town White Eagles. After finding themselves 1 goal down 15 minutes into the game, our Pirates dug deep and continued fighting. Leyla Sharman levelled the score before half time, and Ruby Jacobson scored the winner late in the game. A fantastic effort from all!
