For Wednesday's Female Football Week Spotlight, we are proud to celebrate Jaden Goodey — a talented young player, emerging coach, and valued member of our SKiLLS Training Program.
Jaden has grown up immersed in football at Taroona Football Club, where her passion for the game has continued to flourish both on and off the field. Over the years, she has developed into a technically skilled footballer and confident young leader within the club community.

Currently part of the Women’s Performance Program, Jaden represents the Under 18s and has also earned opportunities with the Women’s Super League side. Her composure on the ball, strong technical ability, and dedication to continual improvement have made her an important contributor within the program.
Alongside her playing career, Jaden has grown significantly as a coach over the past few years. Beginning her coaching journey at 16 while recovering from injury, she found a new way to stay connected to the club and quickly discovered a passion for leadership and mentoring younger players.
“Coaching at Taroona is a safe environment to develop new skills and tackle new situations, so it is a great way to build confidence and leadership skills in young women,” Jaden said.
“With time and practice I’ve developed new skills and confidence in myself as a coach, and have had so many incredible opportunities to implement these skills at the club and state level.”

Jaden believes visibility and strong female role models are essential in continuing to grow the women’s game.
“Visibility and role models are so important to growing women’s football,” she said. “Having female players and coaches to aspire to is vital for young girls and shows them that there is a future for them in football.”
She also credits the strong culture at Taroona and the women around her for helping shape her own journey.
“Female leaders have such an important role in shaping a future where female footballers are respected and treated equally, and developing a system in which they can thrive,” Jaden explained.
“I have been so lucky that my mum has always role modelled leadership, and I’ve learned a lot of my own leadership skills from her.

There are also so many amazing women at Taroona who have encouraged me and helped in my development as a player and coach. Our club culture is so special and it’s amazing to see the way all our teams encourage and uplift each other, especially in the senior women’s space.”
Through coaching, Jaden has developed valuable life skills that extend well beyond football.
“As a coach you need to be patient, accountable, and have good communication skills to ensure the best outcomes for your players — all of which are crucial life skills,” she said.
“Coaching has also taught me to be flexible and adapt quickly to new situations, as you never know what might happen!”
Jaden’s journey is a fantastic example of the opportunities football can create for young women — not only as players, but also as leaders, mentors, and role models within the game. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of our SKiLLS Training Program and look forward to seeing her continue to thrive both on and off the pitch.
